Our top-level Rotunda searches are organized by collection. The Founding Era search returns results from our new consolidated Founders platform. For the Nineteenth-Century Collection search, results indicate which publications contain your search terms, and link to our publication-specific searches where you can refine full-text searches using criteria such as author, recipient, and date.
To search, enter one or more terms. When more than one word is entered, they must all be contained in a document for a match to occur. The extent of a “document” depends on the publication. For our editions of correspondence, a document is usually a single letter, diary entry, or similar segment. For narratives, the unit may be a chapter. So the number of “hits” reported in the search results for the Nineteenth-Century Collection will tend to be higher for documentary editions.
